One of the most frustrating things that can happen when you’re out shooting is finding that your rifle scope is blurry. There are a few different reasons why this might happen, but fortunately there are also a few things you can do to try and fix the issue.
One of the most common causes of a blurry scope is simply dirty lenses. If you’re not regularly cleaning your lenses, then it’s not surprising that they might start to get a bit foggy. The best way to clean your lenses is with a soft, dry cloth – avoid using anything wet or abrasive, as this could damage the lenses.
Another possibility is that your scope is out of alignment. This can happen if you bump your rifle or if you drop it – essentially, any time the scope is jarred, it’s possible that the internal components could become misaligned. This is usually an easy fix – simply take your scope to a gunsmith or watch a few YouTube videos on how to realign a scope.
Finally, it’s possible that there is something wrong with the eyepiece of your scope. If you’re having trouble seeing through your scope, then it might be worth trying a different eyepiece. You can usually find these for relatively cheap online, and they’re not too difficult to install yourself.
If you’re still having trouble after trying all of these things, then it’s possible that your scope is simply damaged and in need of repair or replacement. Fortunately, most scope manufacturers offer excellent warranties, so it’s worth contacting them to see if they can help you out.
